Job Summary
SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Assistant Superintendent of Business is responsible for directing, supervising, coordinating and evaluating the functions of the Technology and Information Services of the District. This position provides dynamic, responsive, collaborative and forward-thinking vision, leadership and management of technology systems and services to support the mission and goals of the District. This includes the planning, development, implementation, management and maintenance of all applications, infrastructure, security, networks, technology training and communications. Provides and recommends the vision of technology services in support of District computer services including networks, wireless and phone services. Responsible for delivering services to users to meet defined needs; assure cost-efficient and effective operations. In partnership with Educational Services and other departments, develop and implement the District’s Technology Plan, District Strategic Plan, and the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) to include both information technology (IT) services and technology integration with curriculum. Performs all related duties as required as directed by the Assistant Superintendent of Business.
Requirements / Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS: -Technical skills such as: -Local area and wide area network topologies -Cross-platform solutions and cabling strategies -Data communications equipment in mainframe or mainframe environment -Related experience and proven record of success, preferably, but not necessarily, in an educational environment -Work history that demonstrates increasingly responsible leadership in information technology -Broad knowledge of the technologies comprising today’s information-oriented environment including wireless networks -Microsoft and Apple operating systems and networking systems related to a range of hardware such as servers, switches, routers, firewall, data center -Current K-12 instructional practices; principles and techniques of educational technology; principles and techniques for project planning, scheduling, and control; public sector business practices; emerging trends in instructional technology, and management of budgets. -Principles and procedures of record keeping and computer data back-up methodologies. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: -Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Information Management, or equivalent desirable -Background in PC-based and Mac environments, wireless devices, and LAN and WAN design -A minimum of five years of experience in Information Technology or public-school administration
