Description
EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY:
Santa Rosa Junior College is currently accepting applications on a continuous basis to establish a pool for associate faculty assignments. Associate assignments may be temporary, part-time and/or on-call and may be immediate or as needed.
Compensation/Benefits
Assignments are made on a part-time, hourly basis. A part-time faculty assignment may not exceed a total of 67% of an annual full-time assignment.

• Salary placement is based on academic background, vocational experience, and teaching experience (depending on discipline) and as documented in application materials. • Compensation for assigned classes is paid over the duration of the assignment.

Sick Leave Accrual: Associate faculty accrue sick leave on a pro-rated basis. Additional information can be found in Article 18 of the AFA Contract.
Retirement: SRJC offers CalSTRS Defined Benefit, CalSTRS Cash Balance and Social Security as Associate Faculty retirement options. Eligibility for each plan is determined based on prior membership status with CalSTRS.
Essential Functions
• Provide excellent instruction and faculty support to students, which may include evening, weekend, online or hybrid and/or off-campus assignments.
• Provide academic assistance and related services to students during scheduled office hours.
• Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff.
• Maintain currency in field(s) of expertise.
• Associate faculty focus primarily on providing instruction and/or student services.
• Associate faculty are typically not required to participate in District or department service such as committee work, evaluations, student learning outcomes assessment, and hiring committees, but may be asked to perform these services for additional compensation.

SELECTION PROCESS:
If the department has an immediate need to add candidates to their pool, they will review applications. If the department does not have an immediate need to add candidates to their pool, applications remain in the queue for consideration until the need arises, or for up to one year. If selected, candidates will be invited to an interview with a Screening and Interviewing Committee. Selected candidates who are not given an immediate assignment will remain in the pool for four years.
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:
The Disability Resources Department provides a rich combination of support services and instruction to over 2,800 students with disabilities at Santa Rosa Junior College. The majority of assignments in the Disability Resources Department are allied (non-instructional) assignments providing 1:1 advising and disability management counseling to students with disabilities.

REQUIRED:
Computer Technology (Adapted) (DSPS):
• Master's, or equivalent foreign degree, in the category of disability, special education, education, psychology, educational psychology or rehabilitation counseling; AND 15 semester units of upper division or graduate study in adapted computer technology.
Community College Counselor of Students with Disabilities (DSPS):
• A Master's degree in rehabilitation counseling OR
• A Master's degree in counseling, guidance counseling, student personnel, clinical or counseling psychology, education counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy, marriage, family and child counseling OR
• A Bachelor's degree in marriage and family therapy or marriage, family and child counseling with a license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT); and either 15 or more semester units in upper division or graduate level course work related to people with disabilities, or completion of six semester units, or the equivalent of a graduate-level counseling practicum or counseling field work courses, in a post-secondary Disabled Students Programs and Services program or in a program dealing with people with disabilities, or two years of fulltime experience, or the equivalent, in one or more of the following: (A) Counseling for students with disabilities; or (B) Counseling in industry, government, public agencies, military or private social welfare organizations in which the responsibilities are for persons with disabilities, or the equivalent.
Deaf and Hearing Impaired (DSPS):
• A Master's, or equivalent foreign degree, in the category of disability, special education, education, psychology, educational psychology, or rehabilitation counseling; AND 15 semester units of upper division or graduate study in deaf and hearing impaired.
Developmental Disabilities (DSPS):
• Master's, or equivalent foreign degree, in the category of disability, special education, education, psychology, educational psychology or rehabilitation counseling; AND 15 semester units of upper division or graduate study in the area of developmental disabilities
Learning Disabilities (DSPS):
• Master's degree, or equivalent foreign degree, in the category of disability, special education, education, psychology, educational psychology or rehabilitation counseling; AND 15 semester units of upper division or graduate study in the area of disability
Physical Disabilities Specialist (DSPS):
• Master's, or equivalent foreign degree, in the category of disability, special education, education, psychology, educational psychology or rehabilitation counseling; AND 15 semester units of upper division or graduate study in physical disabilities
Physical Education (Adapted) (DSPS):
• Master's in physical education, exercise science, education with an emphasis in physical education, kinesiology, physiology of exercise or adaptive physical education
• OR Bachelor's in any of the above AND Master's in any life science, dance, physiology, health education, recreation administration or physical therapy
• OR the equivalent AND 15 semester units of upper division or graduate study in adapted physical education
Speech Language Pathology (DSPS):
• Master's in speech pathology, speech language pathology, speech language and hearing sciences, communicative disorders, communicative disorders and sciences, communication sciences and disorders or education with a concentration in speech pathology OR the equivalent
Specialized Instruction (Noncredit) DSPS:
A bachelor's degree with any of the following majors:
• Education of students with specific or multiple disabilities; special education; psychology; physical education with an emphasis in adaptive physical education; communicative disorders; rehabilitation; computer-based education; other computer-related majors which include course work on adapted or assistive computer technology for students with disabilities; other majors related to providing specialized instruction or services to persons with disabilities OR
• An associate degree with one of the majors specified in subparagraph (2) above; and four years of experience providing specialized instruction or services to persons in the disability category or categories being served
Specialized Instruction (Vocational Noncredit) DSPS:
• An associate degree or certificate of training; and four years of occupational experience related to the subject of the course taught; and two years of experience providing specialized instruction or services to persons in the disability category being served
Sensitivity to, and understanding of, the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
Preferred:
• Strong understanding of disability rights, ADA compliance, and other relevant legal frameworks.
• Experience working with students with disabilities in postsecondary or community college settings.
• Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in educational environments.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

• Must be willing to work on-site as determined by the department (the Sonoma County Junior College District does not offer ‘remote only' assignments).
