Job Summary
The San Diego County Office of Education is recruiting for an Executive Director, Special Education Resource Lead for the East Coast SELPA department of the Student Services and Programs division. The Executive Director, Special Education Resource Lead is responsible for creating, developing, implementing, assisting and supporting the California Statewide System of Support within local educational agency (LEA) systems, Special Education Local Plan Areas (SELPA) and Special Education Initiatives, coordinating and providing services across the state in sustaining evidence-based practices inclusive of special education and responding to the changing needs of the LEAs across the State. Note: The position is grant funded thru June 30, 2028. Applications will only be accepted for CURRENT PERMANENT SDCOE EMPLOYEES
Requirements / Qualifications
This position requires the following Education and Experience and Certificates, Licenses, and Credentials:
Education and Experience:
Education: A Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher education in education, educational administration, or closely related area; and,
Experience: Five (5) years of professional experience in special education administration as a Special Education Local Plan Area Director, including the supervision and coaching of staff, overseeing special education programs from birth through age 22, and successful experience developing and implementing statewide and/or countywide or related practice programs are required;

Equivalency: A combination of education and experience equivalent to a master’s degree in education, education administration, special education, and five (5) years of professional experience in special education administration as a SELPA including supervision and coaching of staff, overseeing special education programs from birth through age 22, and successful experience developing and implementing statewide and/or countywide or related practice programs are required.
Certificates, Licenses, and Credentials:
- Valid CA Administrative Services Credential
- Valid CA Teaching or Pupil Personnel Services Credential
- Valid CA Driver’s License
