OVERVIEW: Under the direction of the school assistant principal, to perform a variety of duties associated with supervision of students on campus, and to do related work as directed or required. RESPONSIBILITIES: • Supervise and patrol the student parking lot by controlling the speed of cars, loitering in cars, unauthorized cars on campus, and proper parking of cars; • Patrol areas such as the auditorium, gym, locker room, and restrooms in an attempt to stop smoking, vandalism, bullying, and other at-risk behaviors in these areas; • Assist in supervising student activity areas and library during lunch period; • Assist in general supervision of campus as directed by the assistant principal; • Assist in afternoon bus loading as needed; • Report any inappropriate activities or unauthorized persons on or around campus to school administrators; • Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work; • Perform related duties as assigned. SPECIFIC DUTIES: • Work directly with students to model and promote diversity awareness; • Respond to teacher requests for assistance in the classroom; • Understand and carry out oral and written instructions. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: • Methods and practices for maintaining safety and efficiency within school operations; • Ability to operate a two-way radio and computer keyboard; • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with staff and students; • Skill in motivating, encouraging, and assisting students; • Ability to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
