Job Summary
The Dean of Restorative Practices (DRP) leads the school's restorative practices programming, progressive discipline, and implementation of positive behavioral interventions and supports (PBIS) to create a safe, inclusive, and joyful environment that promotes campus safety in all ways with the guidance from the Principal and Assistant Principal(s). The DRP will implement, facilitate, and maintain the school’s behavior management systems to ensure all students, staff, and families understand their role in supporting a safe campus culture. The DRP is also responsible for communicating with appropriate campus, community, and district stakeholders including the Senior Director of Restorative Practices in a timely and responsive manner. The DRP will work in partnership with the Assistant Principal and Principal to support liaising with the BSS Board and Los Angeles Unified School District in reporting high-level disciplinary and other required documentation.
Requirements / Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience BA in an education-related field Fluency in Spanish or Korean (highly desired) 3+ years of teaching, counseling, or student support experience Restorative Practices certification (highly desired) Strong oral and written communication skills including advocacy skills Ability to connect and build relationships with students and their families Experience using data management systems Experience working with youth from historically underserved communities Experience working in a fast-moving environment; crisis management
Experience and Skills Deep belief that all students can succeed in achieving their individual educational goals Excellent oral, verbal, and written communication skills Desire to continuously grow own skills through participating in professional development and training opportunities Ability to develop and build relationships with students and their families Ability to look at school on a macro level, and implement programs and activities as needed to boost school culture and a positive atmosphere Working knowledge of Google online platforms (including Gmail, sheets, and docs) plus an aptitude for quickly learning and mastering other online platforms Ability to create and facilitate relevant, ongoing PD for staff and faculty
