ABOUT THE CALIFORNIA VIRTUAL ACADEMIES AND TK-8 TEACHER POSITIONS: The California Virtual Academies (a network of 9 public charter schools) delivers online/virtual home based instruction to students in grades TK-12 in California. While our schools do offer some scheduling flexibility, students are required to complete approximately 4-6 hours of coursework daily, complete all assignments, and attend required live instructional sessions. K12, inc. is our curriculum provider. Teachers meet with students daily in virtual classrooms to provide standards-based targeted instruction that meets the needs of the students, as well as support students in coursework, provide additional one-to-one support, provide feedback, and grade student work. Teachers build lasting relationships with their students through consistent outreach throughout the school year and monitor attendance and engagement. Additionally, teachers provide interventions as needed to ensure students remain engaged and grow academically. Teacher’s classes are generally made up of a single grade level in either elementary (TK-5) or middle school (6-8) students. Teachers are required to connect virtually with students once per month at a minimum and attend/coordinate in-person events once per quarter. All teachers are required to proctor state testing which may be in-person or virtual. Please Note: Although TK-8 teachers can be assigned a grade span of elementary or middle school, all interested applicants will need to be willing to teach all grades, TK-8.

HOURS AND SALARY INFORMATION: Full time teachers work Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:00pm. You are not allowed to have another job during these contracted hours. Full Time TK-8 Teachers: Annual salary based on holding a Bachelors or Masters Degree and up to 3 years of experience in California See Salary Scale: https://tinyurl.com/CAVASalarySchedule We do participate in CalSTRS. Please contact your CalSTRS counselor about how employment with any of the California Virtual Academies may affect your personal STRS account. Only full time employees are offered health, dental, and vision benefits. Benefits information is only given out upon offer. We do provide training for all programs and we have a great staff to serve as your support system. REQUIRED CREDENTIAL/CERTIFICATION: (All applicants MUST have the following at the time of applying) • Permanent California Residence (Must currently reside in 1 of the 42 counties we service students and hire in) • Valid/current Preliminary/Clear/Life California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential • California English Learner Authorization- Issued by CTC Applicants who are interested in teaching Transitional Kindergarten MUST ALSO HAVE ONE OF THE FOLLOWING: • At least 24 units in early childhood education and/or childhood development OR • A child development teacher or site coordinator permit issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC). PLEASE NOTE: We DO NOT accept temporary county certificates, out-of-state, intern, expired, emergency, short-term staff permits, or credentials in the process of being obtained. All applicants must meet all requirements at the time of applying in order to be considered.

As the California Virtual Academies are public schools and this is a public school teacher position, these are set contracted hours and you must be available/working during these hours while under contract with the California Virtual Academies. You are not allowed to have another job during these contracted hours.
Start Date
August 2025- Immediate hires as needed throughout the 2025-2026 school year. We are an enrollment based school, we may need to hire teachers at any time throughout the year as our enrollment continues to grow.

Teachers service students within their county of residence. TK-8 teacher postings are listed by county as we service students and hire in most California counties, except the following 16 counties: Alpine, Del Norte, El Dorado, Glenn, Humboldt, Lassen, Mariposa, Modoc, Nevada, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Tehama, Tuolumne, and Trinity.
