COLLEGE & CAREER CENTER ADVISOR
BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, coordinate activities and information, provide various student support services and maintain resources at an assigned College & Career Center; provide information and assistance to students concerning college and career planning.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Coordinate activities and information, provide various student support services and maintain resources at an assigned College & Career Center; advise students and disseminate informational materials concerning post-secondary educational, vocational and other career options and processes; work closely with the Counseling Office and site counselors to coordinate services and resources.
Provide information and assistance to students and parents concerning college admissions, job prospects, educational programs and other career opportunities; respond to inquiries and provide information concerning related standards, practices, requirements, time lines and procedures.
Assist students in establishing and pursuing goals, selecting and preparing for college, and completing various packets and applications; assist students, parents and teachers in locating, evaluating and selecting career planning materials and resources.
Maintain, research and update library of career and college information and materials such as brochures, catalogs, reference books, forms, applications and other resource materials; compile and maintain scholarship, testing and financial aid information and materials.
Assess student abilities, qualifications and interests; assist students and parents with developing post-secondary plans and strategies; maintain current knowledge of college and employment trends and opportunities; administer interest tests as needed;
Arrange for visits and presentations by college and various other representatives; visit classes to promote the College & Career Center as required; notify students of job, testing and community service opportunities as appropriate.
Compose and distribute a variety of correspondence such as letters, lists, flyers, informational materials, bulletins, announcements and newsletters; assist students with composing admission essays as needed.
Communicate with personnel, administrators, schools, colleges, employers, outside agencies and the public to exchange information and resolve issues or concerns.
Operate a variety of office equipment including a copier, fax machine, calculator, computer and assigned software.
Prepare and maintain various records and reports related to students, scholarships, job opportunities and assigned activities.
Train and provide work direction and guidance to College & Career Center volunteers and student assistants.
Monitor inventory levels of College & Career Center supplies; order, receive and maintain adequate inventory of supplies.
Participate in various outreach activities as directed.
Attend and participate in various meetings, conferences and special events as assigned; present materials and information concerning the College & Career Center; assist with coordinating and arranging special events as required.
Keep current concerning college admissions processes and procedures.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school supplemented by college-level course work in counseling, career education, social services or related field and two years experience in a school, employment, counseling or educational guidance environment.
