Job Description / Essential Elements:    Print   
I. General Description Under the supervision of the Principal, the Assistant Principal serves as the Principal's Designee fro those areas to which he/she is assigned. The Assistant Principal serves as the second executive officer of the school, and in the absence of the Principal functions as chief executive officer. II. General Scope of Service 1. May be delegated responsibility for the recruitment, selection, inservice training, supervision and evaluation of district personnel assigned to his/her school. 2. May be delegated responsibility for the effective operation of specified instructional programs at his/her school site. 3. May be delegated responsibility to assist in the selection of instructional materials at his/her school site. 4. May be delegated responsibility for student records, health, safety, guidance, discipline, and activity programs appropriate to his/her assignment. 5. May be delegated responsibility for parent and community communications, relations, and interaction programs appropriate to his/her assignment. 6. May be delegated responsibility for the operation, within compliance requirements, of federal, state, and local categorical programs appropriate to his/her assignment. 7. Is responsible for implementation of the provisions of the Certificated Agreement, District Policies, Procedures, Regulations, and State and Federal Law as appropriate to his/her assignment. 8. May be delegated responsibility for budget development and management of expenditures of specified district funds allocated to his/her school site. 9. May be delegated responsibility for the inspection and reporting of the health, safety, cleanliness and state of repairs of those facilities to which he/she is assigned. 10. Is responsible for district-wide programs as assigned by the Superintendent. 11. Is responsible for participation in district planning and decision making as assigned by the Superintendent.

Current Driver's License DOJ and FBI Background Clearances (at time of hire) TB (tuberculin) clearance (at time of hire) Completion of district-mandated training (within 30 days of hire) Successfully complete related WorkSteps physical (if applicable, at time of hire)
