Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Part-Time Color Guard Instructor to lead and develop the HUSD color guard program. The Instructor will work under the direct supervision of the High School Band Director and be responsible for teaching choreography, flag, rifle, and saber techniques, fostering teamwork, and enhancing performance quality for competitions, football games, and events. General duties: Plan and conduct rehearsals, ensuring skill development and team cohesion Choreograph routines that complement the marching band’s performances Provide constructive feedback and mentorship to students Coordinate with band directors and staff to align performance goals Assist with scheduling, uniforms, and equipment maintenance Qualifications: Experience working with middle or high school students with varying levels of skill Experience in color guard performance and instruction Strong leadership and communication skills Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed Professional attitude, positive, encouraging and up-beat personality Previous Color Guard experience preferred

I. GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the supervision of the school principal or other administrative designee, the certificated teacher plans and presents an educational program to students in accordance with adopted district curriculum.
II. SCOPE OF SERVICE
1. Plans instruction and student learning activities based on assessed student needs for the classes and programs to which he/she is assigned.
2. Presents instruction and supervises student learning activities for the classes and programs to which he/she is assigned.
3. Monitors and evaluates progress and performance of students to which he/she is assigned using both district adopted and teacher developed assessments.
4. Maintains records of student progress and performance and reports same to both district and parents through established report cards, progress reports and parent conferences.
5. Maintains an effective learning environment in the classroom or during planned activities through effective management of student discipline and district resources made available.
6. Supervises the work of instructional aides or other paraprofessionals assigned to him/her.
7. Supervises student activities during the normal school day excluding the time set aside for duty-free lunch.
8. Meets with parents and/or students to monitor and promote student performance in the classes or programs to which he/she is assigned.
9. Participates in faculty meetings and established in-service programs both during and after the normal school day as limited by the certificated agreement with the exclusive representative of the certificated teachers' bargaining unit.
10. Maintains professional competence.
11. Maintains required records and inventories of district resources assigned.
III. QUALIFICATIONS
1. Valid Teaching Credential issued by the State of California appropriate to assignment.
