THE POSITION: Under the direction of the Director III, Student Support Services, and working within the Community Schools framework, the Psychiatric Social Worker provides multi-tiered school mental health supports to promote resiliency, emotional wellness, and positive school climate in service to students, families, and staff within their assigned school(s). These services include mental health promotion, prevention, early intervention, and intensive direct services, including individual, group, and family counseling, and crisis intervention. Through these strategies, the Psychiatric Social Worker supports the educational process by and removes barriers to educational success. In addition, a key role of the Psychiatric Social worker is to collaborate with school staff as a member of multidisciplinary school teams and coordinate with school and community partners to improve services and increase resources. LOCATIONS Candidate will be appointed to one of the locations listed below: Los Angeles County High School of the Arts at Cal State Los Angeles Campus

Requirements / Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: • A master's degree in social work is required. • Training and experience utilizing mental health evidenced based practices. • One year of experience in the field of social work working with school-age children, preferably in a school setting. • Previous experience working with at-promise youth (e.g. gang involved, truancy, foster youth). • Experience providing individual, group, and family counseling. • Experience facilitating presentations, monitoring programs, and report writing. • Experience collaborating with community-based organizations, law enforcement, and other government agencies. • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams. • Experiencing providing crisis response services including suicide risk assessments. • Experience providing school based social work services for one or more years preferred. LICENSE AND CERTIFICATE (All applicants must attach credential with document number to their application. See below for step-by-step instructions.): • Must possess and maintain a valid Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential in School Social Work, OR be eligible to, and obtain, a Health Credential as a Psychiatric Social Worker prior to start date. • Must possess a valid license as a Clinical Social Worker OR a valid registration as an Associate Clinical Social Worker issued by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. • License/registration must remain in good standing with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences during the entirety of employment as a Psychiatric Social Worker. Registered Associate Clinical Social Workers must obtain licensure within 6 years of start date.
