The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. Job Summary
We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic individual to serve as Executive Assistant for the Alternative Education Division. The selected candidate will serve as a diverse administrative support to the director in the division. The incumbent will perform administrative operations of that executive's office, perform a variety of clerical, office support, and record management duties. The Executive Assistant will also maintain meticulous record-keeping and assume responsibility for budget monitoring. In addition to performing a variety of administrative duties to support the work of the executive, the person selected will coordinate, arrange, and confirm meetings, conferences, and appointments. Responsibilities include: travel arrangements and confirmations, composing correspondence, memos, reports, and requisitions. The Executive Assistant will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and efficiently executing the daily operations and administrative tasks within the office of a Director in a dynamic and high-profile political and organizational setting. This role demands adept management of a multitude of evolving priorities.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education, Experience, and Training Guidelines: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: * High school diploma or high school equivalency test. * Associate's degree or course work in business management, communications, or a related field is highly desirable and may be substituted for a portion of the required experience. * Five (5) years of increasingly responsible office administrative or secretarial experience.
