Job Description / Essential Elements:    Print   
Using both the Spanish and English languages fluently, assist teachers with the presentation of learning materials; tutor individuals or small groups of students; reinforce or follow-up on the teacher’s lessons by reading or telling stories, providing specialized instructional assistance, practicing and listening to lessons, leading discussions and other learning activities; coordinate and assist students in learning centers with use of dictionaries, researching materials, work skill and reading, using both the Spanish and English languages; assist in identifying the learning needs of students and in the evaluation of the instruction and the students’ progress and problems; assist teacher in preparation of plans or develop own plans based on teachers’ direction and explanation of the students’ learning needs; provide emotional support, positive reinforcement, and general guidance; assist in developing and preparing teaching aides; prepare and maintain inventories of materials and equipment used in learning activities. Perform clerical tasks such as scoring and recording tests, up-date “Cum” folders, and maintain other student records and files, chart student progress, keep records of attendance and grades; operate office machines such as typewriters or duplicators in the preparation of instruction materials, bulletins, or other materials; prepare labels, charts, bulletin boards, learning displays and teaching devices as directed; straighten and organize classrooms or other instructional areas and centers; may accompany students on field trips; may attend in-service training sessions, Back-to-School nights and other school activities; assist teacher in maintaining discipline and monitor classroom, playground or other areas; provide translation and interpretation of the Spanish language in a variety of forms; respect confidential nature of pupil records and school reports; may assist with parent conferences; may make home calls under direction of the teacher; may administer first aid in the absence of the teacher or school nurse.

Under general supervision, to assist, tutor and educate preschool-age and school-age students individually or in groups in a classroom or similar learning situation, following a prescribed curriculum; to oversee and supervise students; to perform clerical and para-professional work both outside and in the classroom; and to do related work as may be required. Selection Process: The selection process tentatively consists of the District application review, exam and interview process. The Proficiency & Bilingual Exam will be offered to qualified applicants only and will be scheduled after the application screening process has been conducted. Minimum Requirements: * Must have passed the districts Proficiency Exam * CPR & First Aid Certificate * Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school * Possession of a valid California Drivers License and Insurance The following *MUST be submitted with your on-line application for interview consideration:
