Job Summary

School & College Legal Services of California (SCLS) has an immediate opening for a full-time attorney in its Santa Rosa, California office. This position reports to the General Counsel. The attorney in this role will primarily provide legal advice on employment, personnel, and labor matters, including disability access and accommodations, employment records and privacy, employment discrimination, employee discipline and disciplinary procedures, and employment litigation and pre-litigation disputes. Depending on the experience of the candidate, our office will consider allowing the candidate to work a partially remote schedule such that a physical move to Santa Rosa will not be required. SCLS is willing to consider any of the following levels of experience: - Associate General Counsel I - Zero to three years of experience. Compensation is $118,908 (1,400 billable commitment) - $144,536 (1,600 billable commitment). - Associate General Counsel II - Three to six years of experience. Compensation is $132,172 (1,400 billable commitment) - $157,798 (1,600 billable commitment). - Associate General Counsel III - Six to eight years of experience. Compensation is $162,156 (1,400 billable commitment) - $170,785 (1,600 billable commitment). - Senior Associate General Counsel - Eight or more years of experience in school and/or municipal law. Compensation is $151,345 (1,400 billable commitment) - $183,780 (1,600 billable commitment). Requirements / Qualifications

Required Qualifications - Knowledge of: Legal principles and procedures, including civil and administrative law and procedures; court rules and rules of evidence; methods of legal research, including computer research. - Ability to: Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing; research legal problems and prepare sound legal opinions; establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative relationships with other employees, clients and members of the public. - Required Experience and Education: Any combination of experience and education that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities would be qualifying. Possession of a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school or the equivalent is required. - License & Certification: This position requires active membership in the State Bar of California. Individuals must be physically capable of operating a motor vehicle safely and possess a valid, Class C, California Driver's License, OR be able to demonstrate the ability to travel on scheduled or unscheduled visits to various locations which may or may not be reachable by public transportation. This position will require the prospective employee to also provide a list of references, submit to a criminal background check, and submit proof of TB clearance.
