JOB DESCRIPTION:
To serve as the educational leader, responsible for managing the policies, regulations, and procedures to ensure that all students are supervised in a safe learning environment that meets the approved curricula and mission of the school.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Exemplify effective leadership by adherence to the California Professional Standards for Educational Leaders (http://www.wested.org/online_pubs/cpsel_standards.pdf)
• Select, assign, direct and evaluate certificated and classified personnel to maintain effective performance
• Relate to students with mutual respect while carrying out a positive discipline policy
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, school staff, district personnel, parents, and local community
• Maintain a safe, suitable, neat, and clean learning environment
• Provide leadership which will foster an understanding and appreciation of diverse cultures
• Demonstrate a positive attitude toward job
• Ensure compliance with all laws, board policies, collective bargaining agreements and civil regulations
• Supervise the instructional programs of the school, evaluating lesson plans and observing classes on a regular basis to ensure use of effective instructional strategies that promote student engagement and learning
• Promote positive attendance
• Establish a professional rapport with students and staff, and display high ethical standards
• Serve as a role model for students, dressing professionally, demonstrating the importance and relevance of learning, accepting responsibility, and demonstrating pride in the education profession. Encourage all teachers to do the same
• Collect and use data to implement necessary changes
• Conduct and/or participate in meetings, including, but not limited to School Site Council, ELAC, faculty, PTA/Home and School Club
• Develop and administer a balanced budget and allocate resources to achieve district and school goals
• Establish and maintain an effective inventory system for school materials and equipment
• Motivate employee performance and enhance morale
• Develop clearly understood procedures and provide regular drills for emergencies and disasters
• Establish schedules and procedures for the supervision of students in non-classroom areas (including before and after school)
• Communicate regularly and effectively with parents, community and staff so as to create a cooperative relationship to support students in the school
• Complete all records and reports in a timely fashion
• Attend extra school-sponsored functions
• Assure oversight of Extensions and Enrichment programs offered during after-school hours
• Organize after-school enrichment classes with outside contractors
• Demonstrate active involvement as a member of district management team
• Demonstrate commitment to professional growth of self and others
• Complete other duties as assigned or required by the Superintendent
QUALIFICATIONS:
Credential and/or License:
Valid California Administrative Credential
Valid California Driver’s License
Education:
Master’s Degree required
Experience:
At least three years of successful classroom teaching experience and at least one year of experience at a school administrative level
Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of:
Current legal requirements of California public school administration
Curriculum at the level assigned
Data analysis
Behavioral intervention strategies
Ability to:
Communicate effectively with staff members and the community.
Maintain effective cooperative working relationships with students, teachers, parents, and community members
Plan, organize, implement and evaluate all facets of an educational program
Interpret financial reports pertinent to program cost accounting.

Salary and work year to be according to the current schedule
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the District's policies and procedures
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the essential functions and responsibilities of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms and speak and hear effectively. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
