Requirements / Qualifications

TRAINING, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade; and either an Associate’s Degree of Arts (AA) or have completed 48 college/university semester units or pass the FUESD proficiency test for this classification; experience working with people of various cultures; one (1) year of paid or volunteer experience working with children with autism and/or severe behavioral needs in an institutional or educational setting is highly desirable, supplemented by courses in atypical students, psychology or guidance; or any combination of training and experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities. Under general supervision to perform paraprofessional instructional activities in the Behavioral Intervention (IBI) classroom or Moderate/Severe programs; track student progress through a variety of data collection systems; support students in shaping their behaviors by following specific behavior support plans and classroom management strategies; provide a variety of clerical and supportive tasks for instructional personnel, and to do related work as required. It is the policy of this District that employment will be offered to the successful candidate contingent upon satisfactory completion of a pre-placement physical, drug/alcohol screening test, fingerprint clearance with the Department of Justice and FBI, and a current verification of a negative T.B. test or chest x-ray.
