FACILITIES SPECIALIST I:
Under supervision, performs entry level tasks by applying existing policies, procedures and guidelines.
* Sweeps, mops, waxes, scrubs and/or vacuums floors, rugs and carpets.
* Dusts, waxes, washes and polishes furniture, woodwork and fixtures.
* Empties, cleans and sanitizes waste receptacles.
* Washes windows and walls.
* Cleans and disinfects restrooms and drinking fountains.
* Sweeps and cleans sidewalks, entrances and play areas.
* Picks up paper and debris.
* Moves, sets-up and arranges classrooms, furniture and equipment.
* Cleans light fixtures and replaces light bulbs.
* Replenishes supplies.
* Waters, mows, trims and edges lawns; prunes trees, shrubs and hedges; rakes leaves.
* Removes paint, rust and dirt to prepare surfaces for painting and removes/covers graffiti.
* Recognizes, reports and/or corrects safety, sanitary and fire hazards and requisitions the need for major maintenance or repairs.
* Sets-up rooms for meetings, assemblies and school events, etc.
* Aids and facilitates extra school groups using the campus.
* Operates and maintains manual and power cleaning, grounds maintenance, painting and minor maintenance tools, machinery and equipment.
* May make minor non-technical repairs like replacing/installing a whiteboard, installing pencil sharpeners and door stoppers and unclogging a toilet.
* Performs site security checks for unlocked doors and windows and sets security systems in assigned areas.
* Performs emergency cleanups such as spills, clogged drains and plumbing repairs.
