Job Summary
Position Summary: The Coordinating Speech Language Therapist shall report directly to the designated program administrator and will assume responsibility for evaluating students on their speech/language ability and providing ongoing therapeutic intervention as a case manager or Individualized Education Plan (IEP) services provider. The Coordinating Speech Language Therapist is responsible for providing consultation to teachers, administrators and parents and for providing information and staff in-service training as may be necessary to facilitate IEP requirements and various related program needs. Distinguishing Characteristics: This position is responsible for evaluating and providing clinical intervention to students in schools across the county, as assigned. In doing so, the position is responsible for supervising the activities of professionals in pursuit of either Speech Language Pathology or Speech Language Pathology Assistant certifications. This position is responsible for designing the therapeutic interventions appropriate for the population with whom they are assigned to work, as well as supporting early practitioners with the required supervision and guidance per their program and certifications.
Requirements / Qualifications
Qualifications: Education and Experience Minimum Required: *Appropriate credential need upon hire Masters Degree with an emphasis in speech, language and hearing. One of the following three options: 1. A valid California Speech Language Pathology Services Teaching Credential authorizing Speech, Language and Hearing OR a Clinical or Rehabilitation Services Credential with Speech, Language and Hearing authorization. 2. Department of Consumer Affairs Speech Language Pathologist License from the Speech Language Pathology, Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board. 3. Have and maintain ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP), at least 9 months of full-time experience as an SLP after being awarded the CCC-SLP AND meet professional development requirements related to supervision of CCC-SLP certification. Preferred: Experience supervising and mentoring Speech Language Pathology Assistants and Speech Language Pathology graduate students.
