Requirements / Qualifications
Valid California Single Subject Physical Education or a valid California Designated Subject Teaching Credential authorizing teaching for Health Science and Medical Terminology or health related credential, California ELA1 Authorization, or CLAD certificate required. Bilingual authorization desirable. Master’s Degree in kinesiology, physical education, health, pre-medicine, biology, or related field from an accredited institution and industry experience with three or more years of experience as an Athletic Trainer. • Passed Certification Examination National Athletic Trainer Certification (NATC) required and is within good standing with the Board of Certification (BOC) • Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) • Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from an accredited CAATE college or university • Certification (Basic Life Support Training) • Possession of a valid and appropriate California Driver’s License. Insurability by District liability carrier may be required. Attached credential copy must include DETAILED credential information including the document number, authorization code, authorization description, issue date and expiration date. Comments and Other Information
Under the direction of the Principal or Designee and in coordination with the Athletic Director, the Certified Athletic Trainer Teacher will teach at least two periods a day to develop a Student Athletic Trainer Intern Program and provide Athletic Training services to our student-athletes during practice and athletic events. Certified Athletic Trainer would provide assistance to student-athletes in the prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries; maintain a variety of records related to student injuries, treatments, progress, and assigned activities; process forms and applications as needed; administer first aid and emergency medical care; develop and implement individualized rehabilitation and reconditioning programs for injured students. The Athletic Trainer Teacher will follow CTE model curriculum standards for instruction and the development of the Student Athletic Trainer Intern Program.
