The Business, Facilities, & Operations Division is now accepting applications for the position of Manager - Payroll Services.
The Manager - Payroll Services will, plan, direct, coordinate, and supervise the payroll operations and activities of the Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE); oversee and audit the preparation, processing and maintenance of the SCCOE's payroll to assure employees are paid accurately, timely and in accordance with established requirements; assure proper completion of tax, retirement plans and other reports; supervise, train and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel; perform other duties as assigned.
The ideal candidate
- Has a strong grasp of K-12 payroll procedures, rules and regulations and possesses outstanding communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
- Has a strong understanding of CalSTRS and CalPERS retirement system regulations and reporting requirements.
- Has the ability to work under pressure and meet critical deadline requirements.
- Has the supervisory experience necessary to coordinate the activities of the department, provide training to staff and supervise the activities of assigned personnel.
- Is a positive problem solver and team player with the ability to solve issues and make recommendations.
- Assessments and interviews may take place virtually or in-person.
- Following the final filing date, the qualifications of all candidates will be evaluated.
- The most qualified candidates will be invited to participate in a written exam, tentatively scheduled for TBD.
- Those who pass the written exam will be invited to participate in an oral examination with subject matter experts, tentatively scheduled for TBD.
- Based on the final scores of qualified candidates, Classified Personnel Services will establish a ranked candidate list.
- Selected candidates from the list will be invited to a second interview with the hiring authorities, tentatively scheduled for TBD.
- Second interviews may be held in-person.
