Job Summary

Under the direction of the Director in the Special Education division, participate in the initial screening of students who may be at risk because of educational or physical limitations. Provide for an educationally-related occupational therapy assessment which includes student observation, records review, interview, standardized and nonstandardized testing in areas of suspected disability. Write the assessment report according to specified guidelines. Develop long-term and short-term goals and objectives for the Individualized Education Program (IEP). Coordinate the implementation of those goals and objectives with the IEP team to provide integrated services. Develop an intervention plan that supports the IEP goals and objectives. Consult with and train educational personnel to implement the intervention plan in the student's environment. Monitor student progress toward goals. Review the student on an annual basis. This is an itinerant position based in Bakersfield, CA.

Requirements / Qualifications

Education and Credentials: • Possess certification as Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR) by the American Occupational Therapy Certification Board. • Possess or secure within six (6) months of employment a certificate for first aid and CPR issued by the American Red Cross or equivalent. Experience: • Minimum of one year of experience as an Occupational Therapist preferred. • Experience working with children, particularly in a public education setting preferred. Must possess a private vehicle, valid California driver’s license and carry current automobile insurance with at least minimum coverage for public liability and property damage. Fingerprint clearance by both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met.
