Sky Mountain Charter School (SMCS) is a WASC accredited charter school managed by Innovative Education Management (IEM). The school serves students in San Bernardino, Inyo, Kern, Los Angeles, Orange, and Riverside Counties. Our family of charter schools include South Sutter, Ocean Grove, and Sky Mountain. Job Summary
The Section 504 Coordinator will ensure and facilitate problem solving, process management, compliance and leadership of effective research based, data driven strategy that meets all requirements under Child Find Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. The incumbent will make certain the 504 compliance process for the independent study educational program will maximize learning for each student, contributing to the development of confident, competent and creative learners at each independent study school site. The 504 Coordinator develops consistent dialogue, motivational relationships with students/teachers/parent-families, promotes school policies and the ‘individualized’ learning procedures. The 504 coordinator supports the general education student population and is also part of the special education team and will provide direct support for the special education department in the maintenance of a compliant and collaborative special education program. The incumbent is expected to remain calm under pressure, work cooperatively with team members and others to provide the highest level of service possible and work in accordance with the Guiding Principles of the organization.
Requirements / Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Masters Degree in Education or equivalent experience Credentials/Certifications: possession of a clear teaching credential Experience: Three (3) years of related experience serving 504 and/or special education students *Administrative Services Credential is preferred.
