Minimum Qualifications: •High school diploma or equivalent (general education degree – GED) •Six (6) months of recent experience as a bus driver or one (1) year of commercial driving experience or equivalent •Possession of a valid CA License with Passenger Transportation endorsement, a valid CA Bus Driver Certificate, and a current Medical Examiner’s Certificate •Current First Aid and CPR certification as required for bus drivers •Ability to pass medical examination as required for school bus drivers. •Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. •Ability to accept directions and carry out oral and written instructions. •Ability to maintain a cooperative working relationship with others. Brief Description of Position: •Performs a daily safety check on the bus before driving and assists in maintaining the bus in a clean and safe operating condition. •Drives bus daily over designated routes, picking up and discharging students in accordance with time schedules. •Escorts pupils across street and roads as necessary and required. •Transports students and instructors on special trips to various locations according to a planned schedule. •Sees that all laws and regulations as set forth by the Education Code, the Department of Motor Vehicles and the Board of Trustees are met. •General maintenance of school facilities from a prepared schedule including general cleaning of school facilities (sweeping, dusting, removing cobwebs; scrubbing, waxing, polishing and cleaning windows, door glass, metalwork, concrete, linoleum, tile and wood floors; vacuums/shampoos rugs and carpets). •Does minor construction work on buildings, including painting, cement work, etc. •Waters shrubs and lawn, weeds and maintains small lawn and flower areas. •Makes minor repairs to sprinklers. •Other related duties as assigned.
