We have an exciting opportunity for two (2) English Instructors located at our campus in San Jacinto, CA. Mt. San Jacinto Community College District seeks two (2) English Instructors to teach and develop courses in English. These are full-time tenure-track academic positions. The ideal candidates are student-oriented in their approach and dedicated to student success and will be skilled in generating student engagement in learning and will create welcoming learning environments that are equity-based and culturally affirming. Full-time faculty are typically assigned 15 lecture hours (or the equivalent in laboratory, studio or related activities) of student contact time per week. Office hours are also required. Faculty members are expected to participate in college governance through Academic Senate appointments to standing councils, committees, and/or a variety of task forces. Teaching assignments may include a mixture of day, evening, multi-campus, off-campus, and online classes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. A Master's degree in English, literature, comparative literature, or composition (attach transcripts); OR 2. A Bachelor's degree in any of the above AND A Master's degree in linguistics, TESL, speech, education with a specialization in reading, creative writing, or journalism (attach transcripts); OR 3. The equivalent; AND 4. Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty and staff ***Before scanning attachments, remove/redact sensitive, confidential information such as date of birth, social security number, address and photograph*** DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS 1. Demonstrated experience developing, facilitating, or leading student support programs such as tutoring services, learning communities, curriculum development, student service programs, etc. 2. Demonstrated knowledge of ethnic American literature, especially American Indian, Black or African American, Asian American, or Latine American literatures. 3. Demonstrated commitment to and current knowledge of pedagogical/andragogical practices and best teaching practices for composition. 4. Demonstrated commitment to supporting student development and mentorship as represented by involvement in programs such as advising student clubs, working with honors, facilitating campus events, participating in mentorship programs, etc.
