We have an exciting opportunity for a Counselor located at our campus in Menifee, CA. Mt. San Jacinto Community College District seeks a Counselor to perform a full range of counseling functions with a diverse community college population. This is a full-time, tenure-track, non-teaching, not categorically funded, academic position. Full-time counselors are assigned 1372 hours per work year which equates to 196 service days and are coordinated with the supervising administrator. This includes a significant amount of student contact as well as a range of additional duties. Counselors are expected to participate in college governance through Academic Senate appointments to standing committees, and/or a variety of task forces and act as a liaison to instructional departments. The assignment may include a mixture of day, evening, multi-campus and off-campus work with face to face and/or online counseling appointments.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 1. A Master's degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy or marriage, family and child counseling (attach transcripts); OR 2. A Bachelor's degree in counseling, rehabilitation counseling, clinical psychology, counseling psychology, guidance counseling, educational counseling, social work, career development, marriage and family therapy or marriage, family and child counseling; AND A license as a Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) is an alternative qualification for this discipline (attach transcripts); OR 3. The equivalent; AND 4. Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff ***Before scanning attachments, remove/redact sensitive, confidential information such as date of birth, social security number, address and photograph*** DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS 1. Recent (within the last five (5) years) counseling experience relevant to this position 2. Experience with one of the following: *Myers-Briggs Type Indicator *Strong Interest Inventory *Campbell Interest and Skills Survey *COPSystem *Self Directed Search 3. Demonstrated computer literacy that includes using online counseling and advising tools such as EUREKA, ASSIST, UC PATHWAYS, CSU MENTOR, ConexED, Colleague or other student record systems 4. Demonstrated experience providing transfer and career counseling with community college student populations 5. Demonstrated experience contributing to a transfer culture within the community college environment 6. Demonstrated experience with transfer applications from private colleges, HBCUs, University of California, California State University system, and out-of-state universities
