The District is accepting applications for Interpreter/Tutor Sign Language. All application materials must be received in the Human Resources Department. To be considered, the following items must be furnished with the application: Completion of High School Diploma Certification in Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf Certification Individuals interested in employment are asked to describe any training, education, experience, or skills relevant to this position. Applicants needing special accommodations for testing should submit a request to Human Resources at the time of application. Resumes are optional. Letters of recommendations are encouraged. Please attach to your application packet. All materials received will be acknowledged and treated confidentially.

Under minimal supervision, independently provides advanced interpretation and tutoring assistance to hearing-impaired students. Because the incumbents may be called upon to perform simultaneous sign language with course lectures, considerable knowledge of course content is required. Works with District staff when interpretation and communication assistance is required for business-related situations. Incumbents have a broad range of contacts, including other faculty, staff, parents and the general public. Work may be in a specific setting or require travel to District sites to facilitate implementation of programs. Distinguishing Characteristics: Advancement to this positions may be possible from other instructional positions, however Interpreter/Tutors have advanced skills, knowledge and training in the area of specialization. EMPLOYEE BENEFITS All regular employees who work a minimum of twenty (20) hours per week are entitled to the following fringe benefits (effective on the first of the month following employment). The District offers Medical benefits through various carriers, Dental Care, and Vision Care plan for employee and dependents; Life Insurance; Long Term Disability coverage; sick leave; for classified employee only. Classified employees are required to join the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS) and as such contribute up to 8% of their monthly salary to PERS on a pre-tax basis.

Successful candidates will be ranked on an eligibility list according to the examination score. Final selection will then be made in accordance with Merit System rules from the eligibility list that is good for 6 months once it is established. Fingerprinting and criminal record checks will be done on all prospective employees.
