The North Orange County SELPA and member local education agencies (LEAs) foster coordination between general and special education for prevention and early intervention of suspected disabilities. The SELPA also ensures appropriate education services for individuals with disabilities by working cooperatively with other public and private agencies to support a full complement of special education services for students.The Orange County Department of Education is the Administrative Unit for the North Orange County SELPA. We are currently recruiting for a Teacher to work in our North Orange County SELPA within the Orange County Department of Education's Special Education Division. This professional will participate as a member of a dynamic educational team and will provide teaching services to our diverse group of visually impaired students being served in our programs.

Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • Bachelor Degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university • Recent experience teaching infants, toddlers, children and youth (birth to 22 years of age) who are blind or who have low vision within the full range of placement options. Licenses, Certificates, and Special Requirements: • Possession and maintenance of a valid California teaching credential authorizing instruction in special education for students with visual impairments. • Authorization to provide instruction for English language development (ELD) and specially designed academic instruction delivered in English (SDAIE) to English learners. Appropriate credentials include an Education Specialist Instruction Teaching Credential with English learner authorization; CLAD (Crosscultural, Language and Academic Development) or BCLAD (Bilingual Cross-cultural, Language and Academic Development) authorizations; or Certificate of Completion of Staff Development (AB2913/SB395 training). • Meet the Basic Skills Requirement through one of the methods listed on Form CL-667 on the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing website - www.ctc.ca.gov.

Before receiving authorization to work in this position, the individual selected will be required to provide a current negative TB authorization, within the last 60 days, and submit fingerprints for the purpose of conducting a confidential background investigation and record check. The tests are arranged and paid for by OCDE.
The Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 requires employers to verify the employability of all new employees. Before the Department will finalize an offer of employment, the candidate selected will be required to show original documents which establish both the individual’s identity and employment authorization. The candidate must also sign a statement under penalty of perjury regarding his/her employability.
