Requirements / Qualifications

Under the direction of a Nutrition Services Manager, plan, organize, coordinate and supervise food service operations at multiple kitchens; train, and lead assigned food services staff. Prepare production schedules and assign duties of food service and student staff; assist in the selection, training of assigned staff. Read and interpret standardized menus, recipes, and safe food practices according to Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Santa Clara Unified School District’s food service standard operating procedures. Prepare and maintain a variety of records such as inventory and orders; complete daily menu production records as required. Sanitation and safety practices related to handling, cooking, baking and serving food. Ability to prepare, cook, bake and serve a variety of foods in quantity at an assigned school food service cafeteria. Prepare and serve food in accordance with health and sanitation regulations. Qualifications: Candidate must be a high school graduate and three years quantity food service experience. Culinary experience preferred. Acquisition and maintenance of ServSafe certification required. Standing and walking for extended periods of time, lifting up to 55 pounds, dexterity of hands and fingers to operate kitchen equipment, carrying, pushing or pulling food trays and carts, seeking to assure proper quantities of food, bending at the waist, and reaching over head above the shoulders and horizontally. Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary, as well as good oral and written communication skills are essential.
