THE DISTRICT AND COMMUNITY Roseland School District is located in Santa Rosa, the largest city in Sonoma County. The county is one of the great wine producing regions in the world, and the home of giant redwood trees and spectacular ocean vistas. The District is comprised of two elementary schools and one charter middle and high school. Each school has a collaborative and positive staff of teachers, instructional assistants, full time assistant principals at the elementary and middle schools, counselor, reading specialist and bilingual resource teacher. The District has a culturally rich and diverse population. The combination of cultures, languages and high poverty requires a principal with experience working in similar environments and who is sensitive to the many needs of our families. Sheppard Accelerated Elementary School has been part of the National Accelerated Schools Project for 15 years. Roseland Elementary has participated in Results, Core and Success for All. Both schools have adopted the Houghton Mifflin text series a substantial Reading First Federal Grant to enhance student performance in reading. Roseland Accelerated Middle School Charter, located on the Sheppard campus, is in the fourth year of successful operation with an enrollment of over 200 students and a consistent waiting list of students. Day-to day operations run a smooth preschool through 8th grade campus. The charter high school, in partnership with Sonoma State University, is in its second year with 220 ninth, tenth, and eleventh grade students and will be expanding to 300 ninth through twelfth grades for 2007-08. EMPLOYEE BENEFITS INSURANCE: For full-time regular employees, District plans include health and dental for employee, spouse or domestic partner, and dependents, and vision for employee only. Part-time regular employees are offered this package on a pro-rata basis. PAY PERIOD: Regular certificated and classified employees are paid once a month, on the last working day of the month. GENERAL INFORMATION TB Testing and fingerprinting clearance are required for all new employees, prior to employment. All persons who are offered employment must provide the District with documents that establishes their identity and employment eligibility. Salary placement is made based upon college/university credit and experience, but subject to contract provisions. All temporary, part-time, and full-time certificated employees must contribute to the State Teachers’ Retirement System (STRS) and Social Security. • All documents included in your application file become the property of the district and will not be returned.
