Job Summary
BASIC FUNCTION: Under general supervision of a certificated administrator, to instruct blind or visually handicapped pupils, individually or in groups; in accordance with prescribed learning objectives, to use Braille transcribing to adapt instructional materials; to act as a paraprofessional assistant to a teacher in performing assigned tasks; and perform other related duties as required.

Ed-Join Classified Application Must be at least 18 years of age EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and one year of paid or volunteer experience working in a school setting with children, and one year of training or volunteer experience preparing material in Braille. Certification as a Braille Transcriber by the Library of Congress may be substituted for the Braille experience. Licenses and other Requirements: Valid Library of Congress Certificate of Efficiency as a Braille Transcriber must be obtained within one year of employment in the classification.
