Our mission is “to protect life and property and to ensure the academic tranquility of the staff and students of the Elk Grove Unified School District.” The division works 24 hours a day, seven days a week to service the district’s schools, students, and staff. The safety of students, staff, and visitors to all schools and support facilities in EGUSD is the Division of Safety and Security’s top priority. Toby Johnson Middle School is part of the Franklin High School campus is named for the long time member of the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors, Tobias Johnson, known to all as Toby. A former teacher and principal, Mr. Johnson represented the Elk Grove and Franklin areas for many years on the County Board. Our district's mission is to provide a learning community that challenges ALL students to realize their greatest potential. Our success in implementing our district's mission can be evidenced through our school's special strengths, including two-year teaching teams that allow students and teachers to loop together for both 7th and 8th grades as well as working in smaller teams. We operate a four-by-four block schedule that provides students with both a rigorous academic program and an extensive enrichment program. Our outstanding standards-based common core program and the school's Honors Program allow students the opportunity to extend their learning.
