The SLPA will have: Techniques and methods of effective speech and language therapeutic treatments. Techniques, skills, and strategies for supporting students who use AAC devices to augment their communication. Principles and practices of current assessment and treatment approaches to speech-language disorders. High quality English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Basic personal computer operation and use. Skills to perform speech-language assessment and therapeutic procedures.

Speech and Language Pathologist AssistantJob Description
Screen, assess, and provide specialized speech and language services to students who qualify for service.
Develop goals and recommendations for students with language, speech and hearing deficits.
Develop speech and/or language lesson plans using a push-in model and directly implement virtual and/or in-person therapy for both individual and small group services.
Monitor student progress towards goals. Document and collect data on all consultation sessions and maintain student's records.
Collaborate and participate in Individual Education Plan (IEP) meetings, Student Study Team meetings and conferences as appropriate.
Submit progress reports and provide accurate information leading to a recommendation for the IEP team.
Collaborate with the IEP team in the development of IEP components related to Speech and Language services.
Research new information regarding intervention/treatment techniques, methods, assessment materials, available resources and regularly communicate to staff and parents via consultation and collaboration.
Maintain continuing education and licensure in SLPA.
Attend virtual and in person staff meetings and professional development as needed.
Communicate with paraprofessional staff regarding student goals and strategies to assist communication development
