ABOUT THE CALIFORNIA VIRTUAL ACADEMIES AND PROGRAM SPECIALIST POSITION: The California Virtual Academies (a network of 9 public charter schools) delivers online/virtual home based instruction to students in grades TK-12 in California. While our schools do offer some scheduling flexibility, students are required to complete approximately 4-6 hours of coursework daily, complete all assignments, and attend required live instructional sessions. Stride is our curriculum provider. The Program Specialist, under the direction of the Assistant Director of Special Education, will provide consultative, support and advisory services to teachers, parents, administrators, and staff in the implementation, development and operation of programs for special education students. They provide guidance, instruction and support, manage the learning process and focus on students’ individual needs.
Requirements / Qualifications
EXPERIENCE/REQUIREMENTS: • Extremely organized • Excellent communication skills • Knowledgeable in curriculum programming and Special Education Law • Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher • Ability to travel statewide, as requested, possibly overnight • Ability to multi-task • Attention to detail • Ability to communicate the educational need for DIS services versus the clinical need in an IEP meeting, to parents and to other professionals. Experience Preferred: • Previous experience as a program specialist or similar administrative role HOURS AND SALARY INFORMATION: Full time position work Monday-Friday from 8:30am-4:00pm You are not allowed to have another job during these contracted hours.
