Job Summary

The job of Information Services Technician is for the purpose of planning, organizing, and performing technical and school library functions; providing first tier technical support and reference assistance to students, staff and other patrons; responding to help desk requests; maintaining school site library reference materials and technology inventory; resolving immediate operational and/or safety concerns; and providing in-service training and documentation on applications and hardware. This job reports to the Chief Technology Officer or designee.

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE Any combination equivalent to: Graduation from high school or equivalent GED supplemented by training and/or coursework in computer operation. Two (2) years experience providing customer support in a technology environment utilizing varied operating systems. Experience with school library operations and procedures utilizing an automated library system and Helpdesk is desirable. (Please review the job description for more information) EXAMINATION PROCEDURES This is a promotional and open competitive recruitment. The examination may consist of a training and experience (supplemental responses) evaluation, written test or performance test and a structured oral interview. To qualify to be placed on an eligibility list, a candidate must obtain a passing score on each section of the examination process. Final scores will be obtained by combining the relative weights of scores on each test part. If Veteran's credit is claimed, proof of status (DD214) must be submitted to the Classified Personnel Office at the same time the application form is submitted or prior to testing. The life of the eligibility list will be twelve (12) months. The resulting eligibility list will be used to fill current and future permanent and substitute vacancies. Applicants who may need reasonable accommodation for interviewing or testing must notify the Personnel Department at (562) 690-2321, three business days prior to the testing date. Date of Examination Candidates who are among the most qualified shall be notified via email or telephone of the time, date, and place of the examination(s).
