THE POSITION: Under the direction and supervision of the principal, the Dance Chair will oversee the daily operations of the Dance Department. Candidates must be dedicated to increasing diversity in the student body and creating access to the program for students of color and those from lower socio-economic backgrounds. The selected candidate will provide visionary leadership in the development and expansion of the Dance program. They will develop curriculum, communicate with parents, and collaborate with the other arts department chairs. They will create opportunities for students to present their work in LA communities and high-profile events, and to work with non-profit arts providers in developing programing, outreach, and recruiting “pipelines” for prospective LACHSA students. They will recruit and admit student’s representative of LA’s diverse populations, and foster a safe and inclusive culture among students and faculty.

EDUCATION: A bachelor’s degree in dance, physical education or dance education or a closely related field from an institution of higher learning accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Master’s degree preferred. License or Certificate: Posses and maintain a valid: • California Single Subject Dance Teaching Credential with full English Learner Authorization (Clad or equivalent). or • Physical Education Teaching Credential issued prior to 01/01/2022. (With full English Learner Authorization ( Clad or equivalent) Interns will be considered if they hold or meet the following: • Hold a CTC issued University Internship in Dance with EL authorization. • Are Intern Eligible for a Single Subject Dance Teaching Credential with an EL authorization (for consideration you must attach intern eligibility letter on university letterhead to application). Interns recommended for hire will sign a commitment contract reflecting the timeline of full credential completion.
