About the Employer

Moreland serves Preschool-8th grade students across three cities in Santa Clara County. Our teachers educate approximately 4,000 students in four elementary schools, two TK-8 schools and one middle school. Teachers are provided regular preparation time, collaboration time, and professional development. Students are offered a wide variety of programs to support their academic, social and emotional growth.

Partial List of Responsibilities:
1. Measure and interpret the intellectual, social and emotional development of children.
2. Inform and advise the administration, principals and teachers on matters affecting psychological services as they relate to improvement of pupil learning.
3. Identify exceptional children and collaborate in the planning of appropriate educational and social placement and programs and reevaluations to determine effectiveness of prescribed programs.
4. Develop and implement special education services to identified students in conjunction with Individual Education Plan (IEP) team.
5. Develop ways to facilitate the learning and adjustment of children.
6. Diagnose educational disabilities and assist in the planning of educational programs.
7. Counsel individually and in groups with administrators, teachers, parents and students.
8. Organize and chair introductory and annual meetings: IEP meetings with parents of special education students; meetings of school staff and students to determine eligibility for placement for special education and related services; meetings to update data and review students’ progress.
9. Serve as member of Student Study Team; serve as a resource person and liaison between the site, the district, non-public schools, and community agencies. Make referrals to community agencies.
10. Participate as member of committees on special education.
11. Support Superintendent in monitoring/evaluating District major goals and objectives with emphasis on closing the achievement gap while raising the achievement of all students.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
1. Hold Master’s or doctorate degree in related field.
2. Must have a minimum of two years of successful experience in the field with a background in counseling.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Ability to:
• Administer a variety of psychological instruments including psychometric, projective, aptitude and ability tests.
• Conduct educational assessment and placement.
• Formulate complete case studies in a way useful to school personnel and understandable to parents.
• Develop and improve psychological services.
• Analyze crisis situations and implement effective courses of action.
• Plan and coordinate the psychological services and programs provided to school sites.
• Interpret, apply, and communicate applicable federal, state, state and district policies, procedures, laws and regulations.
• Build strong, positive professional relationships through clear communication and follow through.
• Analyze situations; identify options; project consequences for proposed actions; and implement and evaluate recommendations.
• Work independently to produce reports, organize projects, and compile data.
• Work collaboratively with all district office and school site personnel.

          Moreland offers annual stipends for certificated employees who hold a Master's degree, national board certification, and special education credential. Moreland contributes to medical benefits in the following amounts annually for full-time certificated employees: $9,454 single, $16,834 two-party; $21,651. Moreland also contributes to dental and vision benefits. Certificated employees are provided with a term life insurance policy of $2,000 at no cost. Credentialed employees receive full credit for out-of-district experience in a comparable public school setting.
