          Under the direction of the Coordinator, Special Education, the Instructional Specialist will assist with monitoring the process and content of individualized education programs for students with disabilities. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES *Assist both special and general education teachers in curriculum modifications to meet student needs in the special day class, mainstream/inclusion settings, and resource specialist services. *Coordinate curriculum resources *Plan and implement staff development focusing on modified curriculum, current methodologies and IEP implementations *Meet with teachers to interpret and implement curriculum and monitor implementation in the classroom *Assist teachers in organizing classrooms for effective learning *Serve as consultant in the selection of equipment, supplies, and books *Maintain special education curriculum library *Assist in the development and implementation of an overall plan for program evaluatio. *Provide advice on class placement, student groupings and service delivery *Work cooperatively with general and special education teachers, support staff, site administrators, and parents *Analyze and interpret assessment findings and make recommendations to staff for program implementation *Serve as administrative designee at District IEP meetings *Represent special education on District instructional committees *Represent the District at West San Gabriel Valley-SELPA program specialists meetings *Represent District students in SELPA regionalized programs *Represent the District and facilitate the referral process for students in SELPA programs *Perform other duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education, Training, and Experience *Possession of a valid California teaching credential, which allows provision of services to students with disabilities. *Five years of successful teaching students receiving RSP or SDC services. *Possession a vehicle and valid California driver’s license.
