Job Summary

The Special Education Teacher is responsible for overseeing the delivery and integration of instruction and related services as outlined in individualized education programs (IEPs) and Section 504 plans. They serve as the link between the principal, teachers, and special education service providers and facilitate IEP conferences, annual meetings, and triennial reviews. The coordinator also promotes positive relationships with parents and stakeholders, collaborates with evaluators, ensures parent receive reports, drives compliance, and provides guidance on the Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and related laws and regulations. Additionally, the special education teacher tracks and retrieves special education records and collaborates with school leaders on professional development for teachers and counselors.
