OPENING DETAILS: Monday - Friday, 8 hours per day Work Hours: 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (includes 1/2 hour unpaid lunch) Salary Range: Range F of Schedule B (Classified Supervisors and Managers)...new employees to the district will begin at Step I. BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of the Coordinator of Special Education, coordinate, supervise and schedule the temporary and full-time assignments for District and agency sign language interpreters; coordinate and monitor the daily operations of the Educational Interpreters; coach and mentor the Educational Interpreters and interns.

Possession of Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Certificate of Interpretation (CI) and Certificate of Transliteration (CT), National Interpreter Certification (NIC) Advanced or Master, and National Association of the Deaf (NAD) Level 4 or Level 5 Certification. Graduation with a Bachelor’s Degree from an Interpreter Training Program or a degree from an accredited college or university with a concentration in education of the deaf and hard of hearing or educational interpreting. Other equivalent combinations of directly related training or experience may be considered. Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: Equivalent to graduation from a regionally accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in American Sign Language, interpreting, education, social work, or a related field, completion of an Interpreter Training Program, and five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in interpreting for deaf and hard of hearing individuals in a higher-education setting.
