CURRENT VACANCY: 100%, 12 MONTHS For experience and/or education substitutions, you must attach a statement clearly outlining how your additional experience and/or education covers the minimum requirements and qualifies you to perform the duties of the classification. *Applications will only be accepted from August 22, 2024 to August 26, 2024, at 5 pm.* The Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS) Department of the Long Beach Community College District is seeking highly qualified individuals for a current opportunity as an EOPS Program Assistant! This individual will be responsible for performing a variety of administrative support and clerical duties in support of EOPS program and services, including providing assistance to students at a public counter and over the telephone, answering routine questions regarding program requirements and services, scheduling student appointments, maintaining and updating student files and records and maintaining counselor calendars. Additionally, this position will help support parenting students through the CARE program as assigned. We are looking for someone who has obtained a High School or G.E.D equivalent and one year of responsible office administrative or clerical experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. The successful candidate will need to:

• Type of position: Full time (40 hours/week)
• Position Status: Permanent
• Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5:00pm
• Location: Will support both campuses, but could be located at either the Liberal Arts Campus (LAC) or Pacific Coast Campus (PCC)
• Salary: Range 19, $3,880.25 - $4,766.99 Monthly
• Eligibility list: Will be valid for 12 months once approved or ratified by the Personnel Commission. We reserve the right to use the established eligibility list for vacancies (permanent and temporary) in this classification as well as related classifications.
• Advanced salary placement: Generally, new employees start at the first step on the salary schedule. Advanced salary placement may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Duties
GENERAL PURPOSE Under supervision, performs a variety of administrative support and clerical duties in support of Extended Opportunities Program and Services (EOPS) operations and programs; and performs related duties as assigned.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICSThe EOPS Program Assistant is responsible for performing a variety of administrative support and clerical duties in support of EOPS program and services, including providing assistance to students at a public counter and over the telephone, answering routine questions regarding program requirements and services, scheduling student appointments, maintaining and updating student files and records and maintaining counselor calendars.EOPS Program Assistant is distinguished from EOPS Program Assistant II in that incumbents in the latter class are responsible for performing technical and specialized duties in support of EOPS programs and services, requiring a greater knowledge of District and program regulations and requirements. Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION:Education, Training and Experience: High School or G.E.D equivalent and one year of responsible office administrative or clerical experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements: A valid California driver's license and the ability to maintain insurability under the District's vehicle insurance policy. Meeting the minimum requirements of the position does not guarantee advancement in the selection process. Candidate qualifications will be assessed to determine those who meet and exceed requirements, and are deemed most competitive amongst the applicant pool to proceed.
