Send Cover Letter and Resumes to: Attn: Keonna Geer- Head of School kgeer@tierrapacifica.org Duties and Responsibilities The School Counselor Intern will gain practical, hands-on experience working in a TK-8th grade environment learning skills using the ASCA model (Academics, Social-Emotional, and Career and College Exploration). This qualified candidate must be able to work with the Tierra Pacifica community, have good communication skills, maintain standards of confidentiality, exercise professional judgment, and commit to work at our campus between 8-10 hours per week starting September 2024-May 2025. Duties specific to the School Counselor Intern may include: Collaborating with teachers regarding social-emotional development strategies in the classroom Delivering social-emotional lessons in small groups, individually, and/or in whole group settings (classrooms) Coordinating college and career workshops for middle school students Work closely with the Head of School assisting with school-wide programming to support social-emotional education and development Work one-on-one with students to review academic progress Provide resources and support to families, as needed Provide support & intervention for student(s) in crisis Supervision and Evaluation School Intern hours will be supervised by a credentialed School Counselor. School Intern will report directly to the Head of School. Qualifications Desired characteristics of a School Counselor Intern include: Must be currently enrolled in a Counseling Graduate Program Understanding of and commitment to the philosophy of the school Respect for young people and an understanding of their developmental needs Ability to facilitate conflict resolution or willingness to learn Willingness to work in a distance learning format, when required Good interpersonal communication skills Reliable, organized, efficient, and flexible Willingness to operate in a supportive role
