Job Summary
Job Summary
The Hermosa Beach City School District (HBCSD) Music Program is comprehensive and content-oriented, consistent with the California State Content Standards for the Visual and Performing Arts in Music. The vocal medium provides students with an immediate means of musical expression, and forms the basis for music experience with the HBCSD program. In addition to the vocal experience, the program embodies a complete music education approach, which provides a broad base for conceptual understanding of musical principles. Included is an appreciation for music history and cultural diversity, and the development of aesthetic perception and valuing of vocal music. In addition, the District is encouraged to implement a band program and to encourage students to experience playing musical instruments form the recorder, drum circles to instruments used to comprise a band. (5th grade band and music, and middle school band). Work hours will be 8:15 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Monday through Friday. Salary will be prorated to 40% of the Certificated Salary Schedule. Hermosa Beach City School District is located in a beautiful beach town with a very modern yet relaxed atmosphere. The Hermosa schools' student body is small and high achieving. We have a friendly, collaborative staff. Professional development is an important part of our certificated staff culture. Our parents are very active and supportive of their students and the schools.
HBCSD has a robust certificated salary schedule with placement based upon your education and experience teaching in a public school. All regular teaching positions participate in the CalSTRS retirement system. The certificated teacher work year is 182 days. Each regular certificated teacher is eligible to choose health benefits, may join the CTA union, and receives 10 sick days (prorated where applicable).
