MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Shall assist the classroom instructor in all instructional departmental functions as assigned.
2. Shall assist the classroom instructor in all non-instructional departmental functions as assigned.
3. May be assigned to assist in field trip supervision during regularly scheduled working hours.
4. Shall assist limited or non-English speaking students using their native language in addition to English translation.
5. Shall assist with developing the English skills of limited or non-English speaking students.
6. Maintains confidentiality as required.
7. Shall maintain an acceptable attendance record at the work site.
POSITION RESTRICTIONS:
1. Shall not assume the total instructional responsibility for instruction of pupils in any subject.
2. Shall not grade papers which require subjective evaluation by the teacher.
3. Shall not administer discipline.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Shall pass all the district bilingual proficiency examinations.
2. Shall be able to follow both oral and written instructions.
3. Willingness to update skills and knowledge commensurate with the demands of this position.
4. Shall not be restricted from physical activities pertinent to the major duties and responsibilities of this position, including but not limited to, repetitive bending and/or lifting.
5. Demonstrate ability to work effectively with students and staff.
6. Shall possess and maintain a valid California driver’s license.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
