We are looking for enthusiastic Band/Music Teacher who will inspire students in the everything band/music. This teaching position will rove to school sites. This teaching assignment will work with elementary grades, and should be open to teaching general music. REDONDO BEACH UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT ELEMENTARY BAND TEACHER ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES • Provide instrumental music instruction (band) to the 5th grade students at seven elementary school sites. • Provides instruction by which students develop aesthetic concepts and appreciations and the ability to make qualitative judgments about music. • Recruits students to receive instruction in playing standard band and orchestra instruments. • Develops instructional plans and organizes class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and working time. • Provides individual and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of pupils with varying intellectual and artistic abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities. Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior required to provide an orderly and productive studio environment. • Instructs students in proper care and use of instruments and equipment and organizes storage areas and control use of materials and instruments to prevent loss or abuse. • Evaluates each student’s performance and growth in knowledge and aesthetic understanding; and prepares progress report. • Selects and requisitions instructional materials, books, instruments, etc., and maintains inventory reports. • Maintains professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the district and/or in self-selected professional growth activities. • Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop the method by which she/he will be evaluated in conformance with district guidelines. • Communicates with parents and appropriate school personnel on student progress. • Cooperates in school-wide supervision of students during out-of-classroom activities. • Participates in faculty and/or District committees and the sponsorship of student activities. • Collaborates with middle school music teachers to provide a coherent and seamless district music program.
