Job Summary

Job Summary

Under the direction of an assigned supervisor and under supervision of a Licensed Credentialed School Nurse, provides a variety of health services to assigned students including first aid and emergency care; under direction and supervision of a District Registered Nurse, performs specialized physical health care procedures and other procedures within scope of practice, for general education and special education students; provides assistance with health care referrals, mandated health screenings, immunization compliance and record-keeping services.

Dual Merged (2425-02) An examination will be given to establish an eligibility list for the position of Licensed Vocational Nurse in order to fill existing and future vacancies. The eligibility list will be valid for 6 months. The current vacancy is 6.0 hours per day, 206 paid days year. Faxed materials are not acceptable. APPLICATION PROCEDURE: Completed online applications must be received by 4:30 p.m. on the closing date. Resumes will not be accepted in lieu of a completed application or supplemental questions; however, applicants may submit resumes along with the completed online application. A resume will not be accepted in lieu of a completed application. Make sure your application thoroughly details your education and work experience. The examination process may include one or more of the following: written exam, performance and/or technical oral examination. Merit Exam: TBA (by invitation only) Examinations will be given by appointment only. Following the conclusion of the Examination process, the candidates will be ranked and notified of their scores.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school and completion of an accredited vocational nursing program and two years of health care experience. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Successful passage of the District's Job Related Proficiency Test. Valid California Licensed Vocational Nurse certificate issued by the California State Board of Vocational Nurse Examiners. Valid First Aid and CPR certifications issued by an authorized agency. Valid California Class C Driver's License and Evidence of Insurability. Experience with suctioning trachea, gastrostomy-tubes, ventilators, stoma care, and working with individuals with severe medically fragile needs is desirable.
