About the Employer

Downtown College Prep (DCP) prepares first-generation students for college success and beyond. DCP was the first charter school in Silicon Valley and currently operates one high school and two middle schools in San Jose, CA. DCP currently serves students in grades 5-12. Downtown College Prep was founded with the belief that all students, regardless of background and prior academic achievement, can and should be prepared for college success. Our vision is to ensure that more first-generation students have the vision, confidence, and academic skills to succeed in college and beyond, realizing their fullest potential and harnessing their power to become leaders in their field and community. Do you have a passion for social justice through educational attainment? Consider DCP's Operating Principles and join our team: STUDENTS FIRST - We believe in every student’s capacity to succeed and stay focused by asking “What’s best for kids?” PASSION - We take steps to see this work as more than a job by pushing ourselves to learn and improve. TRUST - We take risks to be vulnerable, authentic and empathetic while assuming best intentions. SERVICE - We support one another, maintain perspective through challenges and seek ways to be helpful. OPTIMISM - We show gratitude by celebrating the small and big wins, and maintaining a vision of success. HUMILITY - We choose to be self-aware and reflective so that all perspectives are valued without judgment.

Job Summary

Job Summary

DCP offers a chance to be a part of a committed, passionate professional team that prides itself on its ethic of collegial, collaborative work. Teachers are an integral part of whole-school development and accountability. It takes a particular kind of teacher to succeed in this environment, one who is constantly working to maintain the balance between unwaveringly high expectations and the personal, supportive connection that our students need with their teachers. DCP teachers have the skills and knowledge to reach students far below grade level and do the slow, painstaking work of building their core skills and content knowledge to the point where graduates go off to college confident and prepared to thrive.
