Position: LEAP (ELOP) Program Leader I and II

 

Department: Child Development

 

Reports To: All Site Supervisor

Hours: Elementary:  Mon-Thurs, 1:30-6:00 pm, Fridays 12:30-6:00 pm 

180 School Days & 30 Additional work days (summer/spring/winter)

 

 SUMMARY

Works in a classroom setting by providing direct instruction to individuals and small and large groups of students.  Provides excellent child care, leadership and supports peers by modeling program guidelines/procedures. Implements classroom management techniques and is responsible for guiding and organizing structured and unstructured activities in indoor /outdoor settings. Arranges supplies, materials and equipment for program use.  Willing to work full day camps and summer camp.  

NATURE AND SCOPE

Commitment to the position and the role of an After School Program Leader. Works a steady M-F shift. Regularly attends staff meetings. Available and committed to coaching and training sessions. Makes weekly lesson plans for their classroom and helps other Leaders with their lesson plans. Communicates regularly with other staff members about procedures and areas for growth. Working towards a college degree and willing to attend CPR training. Assist Site Supervisor with additional duties as needed. Scope of work is performed in a classroom, outdoors and in a group environment where there is moderate exposure to communicable disease and hygiene needs of young children. 

Provides support to Site Supervisor with classroom procedures, monitoring the health and safety of children, record keeping for nutrition programs,  monitoring program materials/supplies, organizing the monthly attendance records and other procedures related to the after school programs. Assists with plans and implementation of activities as determined by the Site Supervisor.  

Must be capable of passing a basic skills test for district teacher aide position and obtain and maintain a fingerprint clearance with the FBI and Department of Justice.
