ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL, ACTIVITIES or CURRICULUM or GUIDANCE or SUPERVISION QUALIFICATIONS: Required: A valid administrative credential authorizing service at the secondary level. Desirable: A masters degree, minimum of three years of secondary teaching experience; a valid pupil personnel services credential; previous administrative experience; demonstrated instructional leadership; general knowledge of curriculum development and implementation; experience in guidance and pupil personnel services. SALARY Administrative Salary Schedule. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES The Assistant Principal assists the Principal in his/her responsibilities which could include curriculum development, staff evaluation, staff development, pupil discipline, counseling and psychological services, attendance, career guidance, health services, student and program evaluation, security, plant maintenance, athletics, budget, and staff evaluation. MAJOR DUTIES (Specific responsibilities for an Assistant Principal position are assigned at the discretion of the Principal and will be made from the following list.) 1. Develops the master schedule. E 2. Coordinates the curriculum program and articulation between the intermediate schools and high school. E 3. Supervises certificated and classified personnel. E 4. Coordinates the school's testing program. E 5. Coordinates the staff development program. E 6. Assists in coordinating the school program of student discipline. E 7. Supervises and implements the student attendance program. E 8. Coordinates student government, clubs, spirit groups, bands, school booster organizations and other community-school organizations. E 9. Administers the athletic program. E 10. Plans and implements campus security and disaster operations. E 11. Coordinates the teacher evaluation program. E 12. Coordinates the guidance and pupil personnel services. E 13. Coordinates the school program of pupil discipline, attendance, athletics, and activities. E 14. Performs other duties as may be assigned by principal. WORKING CONDITIONS Environment: Office environment; subject to constant interruptions, and driving a vehicle to conduct work. Physical Abilities: Hearing and speaking to exchange information and make presentations, and seeing to monitor student activities. Hazards: Incumbent may be exposed to abusive and hostile students, parents and staff.
