Job Summary

The Personnel Commission announces an OPEN and PROMOTIONAL recruitment. This recruitment will result in the establishment of one integrated eligibility list. Promotional candidates will have seniority points added to final passing scores (.25 of a point for every year of classified service up to a maximum of 5 points). This list will be used to fill current and future vacancies and will be active for one year or until cancelled. There is currently ONE positions open in Maintenance & Operations. This is an 8 hour/day, 12 month position. Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform skilled electrical maintenance work in the repair, installation, and alteration of electrical equipment and wiring systems. This may involve other skilled maintenance activities on occasion. The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this classification would typically be acquired through any combination of education, training, and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and three years of varied experience in the electrician trade at the journey level.

General safety practices and procedures. Electrical and electronics theory and practices. Applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies, and procedures. Math and measures applicable to the electrical trade. Proper methods of ordering and storing parts, supplies, and equipment. Basic record-keeping techniques and procedures. Computer and mobile devices. Appropriate safety precautions and procedures. Oral and written communication skills. Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy. Ability to Operate tools, equipment, and materials related to specific trade. Repair and maintain buildings and related structural facilities or equipment. Work independently from general instructions. Guide the work of a crew. Handle a variety of work orders and complete work on schedule. Perform heavy manual labor. Work from plans and specifications. Operate computer, mobile devices, and assigned software. Monitor and respond to requisitions in a computerized work order system. Observe and maintain safety precautions and procedures at all times. Maintain routine records. Understand, follow, and carry out oral and written instructions. Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others. License Possession of a valid California Class C driver’s license.
