East Side Union High School District PRINCIPAL 1. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF POSITION 1.1. Chief educational and administrative officer of the school; primary functions are supervision, evaluation and improvement of instruction. 2. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 2.1. Supervise instructional program. 2.2. Evaluates teaching personnel and administrative staff. 2.3. Selects, transfers, promotes and makes recommendations for dismissals of credentialed personnel. 2.4. Plans and evaluates curriculum. 2.5. Administers school budget. 2.6. Supervises in-service development of staff. 2.7. Oversees plant maintenance and repair. 2.8. Coordinates community, civic and governmental entities in their relations with the school. 3. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 3.1. Holds parental and student conferences. 3.2. Assigns teachers and extra-duty functions. 3.3. Coordinates functions of parent and faculty groups. 3.4. Supervises school’s public relations program. 3.5. Performs other duties as assigned by Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent. 4. SUPERVISION EXERCISED OR RECEIVED 4.1. Observes and evaluates all credentialed and classified staff members. 4.2. Receives supervision from Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent. 5. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 5.1. Secondary administrative credential 5.2. BA; MA preferred 5.3. Experience in secondary school teaching and administration 6. EVALUATION 6.1. Annually by the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent. California Secondary Administrative Services Credential 2. Bachelor's Degree; Master's Degree, preferred 3. Experience in secondary school administration 4. Five years of successful secondary school teaching experience. 5. Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.

Step 4: Selection - Top unranked candidates will be recommended by the committee(s) to the Superintendent and the Board of Trustees. SELECTION CRITERIA: The successful PRINCIPAL applicant will be selected on the basis of the ability to: 1. Supervise instructional program. 2.
