QUALIFICATIONS Possess valid multiple subjects teaching credential – possess BCLAD (Bilingual Crosscultural Language and Academic Development) certification in Spanish - fluent in Spanish, strong oral and written communication skills in both English and Spanish - demonstrate ability to organize and deal effectively with teachers, students and administration – demonstrate knowledge of core curriculum areas – demonstrate rapport and ability to collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents and staff. GENERAL DESCRIPTION Under the direction of the Site Administrator and Dual Language Immersion Program Coordinator, the Dual Language Immersion (DLI) classroom teacher performs a wide variety of specialized and responsible tasks including providing an education program for students consistent with the District’s Dual Language Plan philosophy and goals. The DLI classroom teacher implements a Dual Language Immersion program designed to provide opportunities for elementary English and Spanish speaking students to gain comprehensive bi-literacy (listening, speaking, reading, and writing), cultural, and global competence. The DLI classroom teacher develops and maintains an educational environment conducive for effective learning, and uses a variety of research-based teaching strategies designed to meet the academic and socio-behavioral needs of all students. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Familiar with or willing to acquire knowledge of dual language immersion models and grow professionally through participation in professional development provided by the school and/or district. 2.
